Transformative Coaching

Transformative coaching combines the mystic way of being, the art of spiritual direction, insights from contemporary psychology, and coaching. It approaches life from the whole viewpoint of transformation. It understands that we are all on the journey of transforming to the true mystic self. Transformative coaching seeks to assist a life of transformation as a normative path in everyday life.

Transformative coaching seeks to guide persons in the way of mystical transformation within the life of the world. It is not traditional spiritual direction, counseling, psychotherapy, or life coaching. This type of coaching is a participatory co-creative action that blends elements from all these disciplines. It provides a unique way of support for all aspects of mystical transformation—healing, self-awareness, psychological wounds, detachment, relationships, creativity, and work in the world.

This way of coaching supports a new vision of mystical transformation and spiritual creativity. In this vision, we seek to live from a transcendent consciousness as expressed immanently through our embodied life of relationships and creativity in the world. Transformative coaching assists clients along the way of transformation in healing from a fear-based consciousness to the heart-based consciousness of the true being of the mystic self.

Transformative coaching is based on Peter’s multidimensional model of the true self in Divine unity, and a spirituality of the heart. Peter’s way of transformative coaching draws on Christian mystical transformation and the contemporary sciences. They include contemporary psychology (developmental psychology, depth psychology, and family systems), models of multidimensional anthropology—spirit, soul, and body in Divine unity, non-local mystical consciousness in the uncreated light of Divine energy, intersubjective fields of consciousness, systems theory, morphic field theory, subtle energy science, quantum physics, multidimensional physics, and hyperdimensional/torsion physics.

Peter has spent 15 years in the practice of prayer and meditation, which includes centering prayer, the Prayer of the Heart, heart-mind coherence practices such as Institute of HeartMath’s Freeze Frame, and many spiritual and scientific approaches to healing, self-development, and mystical transformation. He is living the path of Christian mystical transformation and has knowledge of heart-based yoga traditions, Zen Buddhism, Tantric Buddhism, Toltec spirituality, and the Western inner mystic way. His mystic way of being and transforming draws on the experience and insight of the Eastern Christian mystics—Pseudo-Macarius, Symeon the New Theologian, and Gregory Palamas, the Western apophatic mystics—Meister Eckhart, Teresa of Avila, and John of the Cross.

Transformative coaching is a participatory co-creative process. It uses our full human intersubjectivity in Spirit, heart, mind, emotions, and physical presence. It assists clients in living the mystic way of transformation in everyday life by giving relational support and context for the transformative way in the world. Transformative coaching can help clients learn:

  • Self-awareness and self-observation of the felt-sense, emotions, and thoughts
  • Meditation and prayer practices
  • Creative intention
  • Becoming conscious of unconscious negative emotions, beliefs, and actions through the awareness of the heart
  • Support a life approach for healing the fear-based consciousness by transforming to a heart-based consciousness in the Spirit
  • Understand the workings of our spirit, soul, and body multidimensional anthropology in Divine unity
  • Guides and affirms the true self toward authentic being and expression
  • Coaching authors on the creative process and practical aspects of writing. Support the art of writing as both the communication of spiritual creativity and spiritual practice

Transformative coaching applies equally to beginners on the pathway of healing and transformation and to persons evolving at higher mystical stages of consciousness. The most effective way to provide transformative coaching, like spiritual direction, is through an in person meeting. Ideally, transformative coaching consists of a one hour meeting per month, but can also occur on a bi-weekly or a once a week basis.
